Day 8 Food Log 2/28/12

Breakfast was a mixture of nuts and berry dessert from the night before.  It was basically nuts and berries ground up together and baked.  I also had some more Hartzlers SKIM milk....not my choice but it was what needed to be drank at work.  (I did buy some Hartzlers Whole Milk from Whitefeather last night.)

I snacked on Beef Jerky through the morning.

Lunch was 2 third pound 100% Grassfed Beef patties from Whitefeather.  These are such good burgers you don't even need condiments but I did put some salt and pepper on them.  I also had 2 strips of Whitefeather's Bacon which may be my favorite product in the their whole store.  I had water to drink with lunch.  I also had a large salad consisting on Hydroponic lettuce.

Dinner was Beer Brat Bulk Sausage with onions and cabbage slices.  We also had pan cooked apple slices.  Fantastic meal with lots of flavor.  I had water to drink.

I took a big drink of Hartzlers Skim milk straight out of the bottle before going to bed also.  (I agreed to post everything I consumed.)  Its only fair.

*****I finally noticed the past few nights of sleep have been much better quality.  I have actually started to wake up before my alarm which goes off at 5am each day.  When I do wake up I can actually think about what I am doing and not just mope around trying to get my brain working.  I am convinced this has to do with my body not having to deal with numerous impurities in the processed food I WAS eating.  And that afternoon energy crash I used to get around 2pm, that was gone almost the day I started eating better.  Its nice to know that within 1 week of clean eating your body can clean itself up and give you a more efficient sleep just from changing your diet.  I didn't expect to get a quicker higher quality sleep at all but it is a very helpful side effect of eating well.

Day 7 Food Log 2/27/12

Breakfast was just some Whitefeather Beef Jerky and a Gala Apple with water.  I didn't have time to make any eggs.

I had Jerky throughout the morning to snack on.

Lunch was the remaining portion of the Bison Chili with a large serving of Green Beans and water.

I had 2 Primal cookies in the afternoon which were composed of a variety of nuts, egg whites and coconut.

Dinner was a Whitefeather Meats 100% Grassfed Beef Strip steak and a Filet along with asparagus and 2% Milk.  Again, I prefer Hartzlers Whole Milk because of the high fat content but the 2% was just available at the store.

I also had a dessert made up of berries and mixed nuts all ground up together.

Tonights dinner.....Whitefeather Meats 100% Grassfed Beef Strip Steak and Filet Mignon with Asparagus. You can't beat Whitefeather's 100% Grassfed Beef.

WEIGH IN DAY/ Day 7 Food Log 2/26/12

Before I get to yesterdays food log I am sure most of you are wondering if my diet over the past week was actually one that would permit me to lose weight.  Remember that my goal with this diet is to get lean, lose fat, and not just lose "weight" in general.  I weighed my self this morning and the digital scale read 232.6lbs which was a total loss of 7.9lbs.  My original weight was 240.5lbs.  I am satisfied with the first week of the diet because I don't look too deflated or weak as I have looked in the past from cutting carbs.  I believe that my protein intake this time is high enough to help me preserve muscle.  I am sure that this next week of the diet will not allow too much weight to be lost as the first week of any diet is typically the biggest loss.  Stay tuned.....

As for my Food log yesterday....
Breakfast was 4 Organic Eggs Scrambled in Bacon Fat that was still in the pan from a pound of bacon we scrambled.  I also had several slices of bacon and some Black Phoenix Coffee.  All Whitefeather Products for breakfast.

Lunch was from Chipotle.  Going out to eat is never too easy when you have diet rules but I ordered a salad bowl which obviously had lettuce, I ordered double chicken, pinto and black beans, and two types of salsa.  With the double meat chicken I was still able to stuff myself as I typically do when I get chipotle.  I just didn't get the tortilla wrap or the rice, cheese or sour cream.  (Just more meat.)  I had water to drink.

For dinner my wonderful mother made a Whitefeather Meats Prime Rib Roast.  She baked it perfectly and it had awesome taste and was quite tender.  I ate a full 12oz to 14oz slice of ribeye and then another 4oz or so slice along with 2 big salads with lettuce and peppers.  I had coffee and water to drink with dinner.

I will be weighing in again next monday morning.

Day 6 Food Log 2/25/12

Breakfast was a few Whole Organic Egg Muffins which were baked with Pepper and Whitefeather Bacon mixed together.  Also had Black Phoenix Coffee.

For Lunch I ate about 8 ounces of Pepper Stick Grassfed Beef Bologna from Whitefeather.  (A newer product we carry which is similar to trail bologna but with a really good pepper flavor.)

I drank water and coffee throughout the day and didn't have a great lunch because I was busy roasting coffee and moving my entire home gym to a new location.  Yes it was snowy and windy but we made it.

I did have 2 Gala Apples right before dinner.  Dinner was amazing.  My wife made a BISON Chili with onion, red peppers, and a few other seasonings.  The recipe was from a Primal Blueprint cookbook.  The chili was the most tender and flavorful chili I have ever had.  I also had a few steamed Brussel Sprouts which I did not like whatsoever but I knew I needed to eat some more vegetables for the day so I ate them.

I also had 2 protein cookies for dessert which were made of nuts, blueberries and coconut oil and a glass of Hartzlers 2% milk.

(My wife photographed the chili dinner pictured above.)  My poor cell phone just wasn't worthy of the almight bison dinner.

Day 5 Food Log 2/24/12

Breakfast was 6 Organic Whole Eggs with red pepper, a few ounces of Whitefeathers Smoked Sausage and a few strips of Whitefeathers No-Nitrite Peppered Bacon.  Black Phoenix Coffee to drink.
Breakfast was once again very filling.

Lunch was again 2 quarter pound venison burgers and 1 Gala Apple with water to drink.  Lunch is typically a boring meal for me since I am making it myself and I am still keeping the store open at Whitefeather.  (I like keeping the store open anyway, I would rather not close the store up for an hour.)

I was able to snack on some freshly cooked Corned Brisket which was being prepared by some co-workers for St. Patricks Day coming up.  Probably the best tasting Beef you will ever get to try.  (It will be for sale also if you are interested.)

Dinner was a Tomato Basil Seasoned Chicken Breast with baked radish slices with a seasoning on them and also a salad with my red wine vinegar dressing.  I had water to drink.  Once again today I was never hungry but I did get a little bored with my lunch, which would be my own fault since I didn't get creative with making anything different.  I will try to get a little more creative with my lunches next week.

Also looking forward to weighing myself on monday.

If there is any more information that anyone would be curious in knowing just let me know on my facebook page or leave a comment here on the blog.

Day 4 Food Log 2/23/12

Breakfast was 6 Organic Whole Eggs with Red and Green Pepper along with a half a pound of Whitefeathers smoked sausage and Black Phoenix Organic Coffee.  Quite filling as you can imagine.

Lunch was 2 quarter pound venison burgers and a Gala Apple from Whitefeather and water.

I had some Whitefeather Beef Jerky for an afternoon snack and another Gala Apple.

For dinner I had cabbage wrapped Tomato Basil Chicken Sausage, 2 links, and some grilled onions.

I also had a glass of Hartzlers Whole Milk before going to bed.

I was not hungry at all today and I have learned that it is critical to have a big breakfast to keep you from playing catch up the rest of the day.  I will be weighing myself on monday morning to see if I have lost any weight yet.

Day 4 Breakfast......

Day 3 Food Log 2/22/12

For breakfast I had 4 Organic Eggs scrambled with hot sauce.
Black Phoenix coffee drank black.
I snacked on Whitefeather Beef Jerky before lunch.
For lunch I had 2 quarter pound venison burgers and 2 Whole Eggs over easy, with water.
I had a few strips of Whitefeather Beef Jerky in the afternoon followed by a salad with green and red peppers and red wine vinegar dressing.....zero calorie dressing.
For dinner I had Almond Crusted Chicken from Whitefeather along with some vegetables.

I woke up with a headache from lacking the carbs in my diet.  It subsided in the afternoon.  I can already feel that my clothes are fitting a little better.  I haven't yet been hungry.

Almond Crusted Chicken Breast with Vegetables

Day 2 (Food Log) 2/21/12

Upon waking I made about 6 cups of Black Phoenix Coffee and consumed it black. For breakfast I ate 6 whole Organic Eggs scrambled with about 4 ounces of Whitefeather Ham chunks. I could barely finish this meal and was full until lunch time. For lunch I had a Whitefeather Meats burger grilled with a package of No-Nitrite Whitefeather Bacon. The burger was about 6 or 7 ounces and I ate about 6 or 7 slices of bacon. The bacon was fantastic and adds tons of flavor to anything you eat with it. I drank more water than usual throughout the afternoon and again was not hungry until about 5 or 530 in the evening. I had a salad with Red Wine Vinegar as dressing since it has zero calories and lots of flavor. For dinner I had Whitefeather Meats Chicken breasts sliced up, wrapped in Whitfeather Meats bacon and then baked in the oven. By far the best meal of the day. I was not hungry at all today and simply ate my meals until I was full or too full as was the case with breakfast. As you notice I don't really weigh out my food or decide what I need to eat by the amount of food involved. The nice thing about eating a diet high in protein and fat is that you really can eat as much meat as it takes to get you full and then stop rather than eating only a few ounces here and there and then you are starving all day. The key is to fill up on protein and you won't be hungry for quite a while. I also did some plyometric workouts before breakfast which consisted of some 30" box jumps, some 1 arm barbell snatches with 95lbs and a few sets of pull/ chin ups. Just a quick but effective workout.

Day 2 (Quick update)

I am getting ready to eat dinner and so far today I have had 2 meals and no snacks. I have been suprisingly full since the diet started. I would guess that the fullness comes from eating lots of protein rather than snacking on cookies and other sugar products that I typically would eat. I have been feeling good in general and I didn't have any afternoon tiredness that typically hits around 2pm. So far so good. I will post todays food intake tomorrow morning and hopefully keep that routine. So each days food intake will be posted the following morning.

Primal diet secret #1: Whitefeather Meats Hickory Smoked No-Nitrite Bacon is simply the best tasting bacon I have ever had. It is the perfect high protein, high fat food and you can eat it with any meal of the day. You also don't need to be afraid to eat it since it doesn't have any chemical preservatives in the curing process.

What are my dietary guidelines?

I am getting ALL of my meat products from Whitefeather since they carry, 100% Grassfed Beef, Bison, Pork and Chicken all antibiotic and hormone free and processed without chemicals. I will also be getting my Organic Eggs and Hydroponic Lettuce from Whitefeather. Hydroponic lettuce is grown completely in water and is grown without any chemical sprays. I will not eat ANY processed foods. I do plan on branching out and eating some nuts and berries along with apples grown locally at Bauman Orchard. I intend to only drink water and Organic Coffee. I am leaning more toward the Primal Blueprint Diet simply because I love the concept of living as if you were a caveman living in the wild. I truly believe that the chemicals and GMO products we consume in the marjoirty of our processed foods is what is causing people to have health issues.

Day 1

My goal for this new eating and lifestyle change is to get leaner and healthier rather than just losing weight in general, in case anyone was wondering what exactly my goal is. I weighed 240.5lbs this morning before food or drink. I measured my stomach, my waist and my thighs today also so I can get an idea of how much bodyfat I will lose. I do not have a bodyfat caliper as I thought I did but I believe its safe to say that I am around 25% bodyfat. I measured my stomach at the largest circumference which was 43.5 inches around, my waist was 41 inches around and one of my thighs at the largest part was 26 inches around. All of these measurements were larger than I thought they would be and I am sure that this is the most unhealthy and out of shape I have ver been.

What I ate today:

Breakfast was 4 Organic Whole Eggs from Whitefeather- I scrambled the eggs and put a few splashes of hot sauce on them. I also had a few cups of Black Phoenix Organic Coffee from Whitefeather Meats.

I ate 2 Gala Apples as a snack before lunch- Apples were from Whitefeather also which are grown at Bauman Orchard.

Lunch- I had 2 quarter pound venison burgers for lunch with a large salad consisting of hydroponic lettuce also from Whitefeather and grown in Orrville, OH.

I drank plenty of water during the afternoon and I will be eating 2 more quarter pound venison burgers along with another salad for dinner. I will be getting some more meats from Whitefeather tomorrow so I can get some variety. You could easily substitute Grassfed Beef or Bison for the venison if you are attempting to duplicate my diet. (I ate the burgers plain with no bun and I was quite full before I finished my lunch.)

The night before my eating habits change.

I am truly looking forward to tomorrow and changing all of my current eating habits. No more junk food for me. I will be posting at least once a day and hopefully each morning I will get a chance to post my summary of the previous day. Look for my starting bodyweight, a few measurements and also an estimated bodyfat percentage.
